Well I’ve embarked on a journey into stop-motion animation. Although smothered by the new 3d animation monsters of the entertainment industry, there are still some of us who appreciate this hand-made individual form of expression. Unlike 3d animation, stop-motion is more art than product. Although there may be only a handful of people who enjoy this sort of thing it’s well worth it for me. Right now I’m in the time consuming puppet building process. Armature building and foam rubber casting is fun but a bit tricky. Well anyway, my approach will be the same as it is for all my artistic endeavors. Chance and suppressed logic will be key ingredients. This really goes against Harryhausen’s philosophy, but I am not him by a long shot!!! I have one 3 minute animation for you to see. I took snippets of what I had made for different things and put them together for this rather crude story. One good armature, doll house parts, Barbie clothes, tape and a lot of glue were all that went into this one. I’ve been into creating digital music as well. Downloads are available at soundclick. I plan on using them in future animations.
Enjoy!
